Rain Has Final Say on Inaugural Sally Ashman Twenty20 Charity Cricket Match

Which Raises £3000.00

Despite the best endeavours of umpires Pascoe and Elphrick and the good will of Bovey Tracey C.C. the inaugural Sally Ashman Twenty20 Charity Cricket Match was finally beaten by rain that then turned into a thunder storm. Regardless of the fact that a result was not achieved the day was a great success with a large crowd and the outstanding support of players, parents, umpires, scorer Jean Pascoe and Bovey Tracey C.C. Adam Dibble led a side against a James Burke eleven with man of the match awards being made to Dylan Penberthy and James Toland. The champagne moment was when Seamus McKenna (2 foot nothing) pulled Merrick Steward for 6. The presentations were made by Sally Ashman's brother. Ted Ashman intends to run this event on a biannual basis and extends his thanks to everyone involved at Bovey Tracey C.C., players, parents, officials and his helpers from Cancer Research UK who were the worthy beneficiaries receiving a figure of £3000.00 from the first Devon Youth Charity Cricket Match.
