DEVON
U15s and U13s (pictured above) had their best season ever
in 2006.
Both teams beat off competition from Somerset, Hampshire,
Gloucestershire, Sussex, Dorset, Cornwall, the Isle of Wight
and Wales to win the South West Division of the South and
South West League.
The teams also went forward to
represent the South West in the national semi-finals of the
league.
Despite fighting hard the U13s lost to the South East Division
when they played in Kent. The same fate befell the U15s a
week later.
The South West Division win was a remarkable achievement
for the U13s, who were enjoying their first season of league
play.
The teams are captained by sisters Celia Hayes and Julia Hayes
of Plymouth College and sponsored by Bartons Solicitors from
the South Hams.
The season ended on a high note for the girls when they played
an exhibition match at the Npower Women's Test match between
England and India at Taunton. They got to meet the players
and pick up some top tips for the 2007 season.
