Devon vs Somerset, 25th May at Exmouth CC

Another beautiful day at Exmouth Cricket Club saw Devon Under 13 Girls secure another win. Devon made the most of being put into bat by the Somerset by posting a good total. After losing two of their top order bats cheaply Devon wobbled at 32 for 2, however Lydia Harris took advantage of the quick outfield to continue with her rich vein of form with a superb 93 not out off 90 balls. This great innings was well supported by Anna Cherrington 31, in a 4 th wicket partnership of 145, which allowed Devon to set Somerset 178 to win. The pick of the bowlers for Somerset were Z. Cape 2 for 16 and C. Redman 1 for 33.

The second innings saw Somerset lose an early wicket to the full and straight bowling of the Devon captain, Emily Ward. This did not stop Somerset however, as they scored at a quick rate right from the off. E. Holdaway was the key wicket that Devon needed to secure victory but she raced on at the top of the Somerset order. Despite the hard hitting from Holdaway, 63*, there was no one to bat the other end for Somerset as Devon continued to take wickets throughout the innings. Lydia Harris played an important role in slowing the Somerset scoring rate finishing with figures of 2 for 9 off 5 over's. Somerset ended up 33 runs short of the Devon total with 144 for 7. Once again thank you to all of the people at Exmouth CC for providing a fantastic pitch which provided lots of runs as well as the excellent teas.
