DEVON TOO STRONG FOR GLOUCESTERSHIRE
At the picturesque setting of King's School, Gloucester, Devon won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a very good surface. Esme Ansley and Frances Lausen resumed service as the openers, but Ansley was to fall for just 10 with the score on 18. Lausen was joined by Amara Carr and together they added 42 before Carr misjudged a drive and was well caught at cover. Lausen then added a further 66 with Rebecca Piddock before Piddock was run out with a direct hit. Julia Hayes batted very positively as, together with Lausen, a further 46 was added. The innings closed on 184-7.
Gloucestershire showed a great deal of resistance in reply but never got in a blow at an imposing total and, despite Clara Nielson taking 3-8, the Devon girls settled for giving everybody a bowl as the hosts closed on 85-6, some 99 runs behind the target required as Devon recorded yet another win.
