Devon started their Canterbury Festival campaign with a comfortable 10 wicket win over an inexperienced Holland Under 16 side. The day was severely hampered by some dreadful wet weather with the game having to be played on an artificial pitch at Canterbury cricket club. Opting to bat first the Dutch were soon in trouble as Jodie Dibble and Rebecca Donohue picked up early wickets to leave the Dutch girls wobbling on 20-2. A stubborn 29 from Safia Westbury ensured that they go up to 71 but that in truth was never really going to be a total that would threaten the Devon girls.Devon openers Vicky Bowden and Frances Lausen had little difficulty in passing the total required as they got the required runs in the 9th over.
