Devon gain
revenge over Irish Girls |
A fine spell of pace bowling from Jodie Dibble put the skids under a strong Ireland Under 16 side. After putting the Irish girls into bat it was imperative that the new ball was used to good effect in conditions that suited seam bowling. Dibble was excellent as she removed three of the top four as Ireland were reduced to 17-3. The rest of the bowlers all contributed throughout the innings as wickets fell regularly. To their credit the Irish girls did manage to bat their 40 overs but a total of 112 always looked light of a challenging total despite the helpful conditions. Vicky Bowden and Frances Lausen shared an opening stand of 43 to lay the foundation for a comfortable win. Bowden went on to finish unbeaten on 57 as she put on a further 51 with Alice McLeod for the 2nd wicket to leave Devon victors by 8 wickets erase the memories of the defeat at Malvern for a lot of the side at the hands of the Leinster Under 15 side. |
