Devon clinch
Canterbury Festival success |
Devon claimed a second successive Festival trophy as they triumphed over Kent to win the inaugural Canterbury Festival. In difficult conditions both sides played some very good cricket where the bat surprisingly dominated over ball in what appeared to be bowler friendly conditions. Kent batted first and posted a respectable 144-3 from their 40 overs. The bowlers despite not going for many runs were unable to make inroads into the Kent batting but good fielding and intelligent field settings enabled Devon to control the run rate pretty well. In reply Devon once again had to thank the impressive Vicky Bowden who once again made an unbeaten half century to lead the Devon girls to victory. The win was set up with good partnerships again as Bowden enjoyed stands of 54 with Frances Lausen and Alice Mcleod before Rebecca Donohue came in at 4 to make a controlled 20 no to see Devon home. |
