TOPSHAM St James Cricket Club will be holding their registration evening at Bonfire Field, Exeter Road next Monday, 25 April between 5.30 and 8pm.
This is an ideal opportunity for both current and potential new members (adults and colts) to meet the captains and coaches/managers.
Thereafter the ladies and older girls will be training on Wednesdays, the men on Thursdays and the juniors on Fridays.
Topsham St James is a very friendly club catering for players of all ages and abilities, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to play cricket at various levels.
In addition to men’s and women’s 1st XIs, there is a men’s 2nd XI, a Sunday team, a midweek T20 side, and boys’ and girls’ teams covering all ages.
During the winter indoor nets were held at Exeter School and last weekend the first match took place away at Feniton.
Now there are warm-up matches against Hatherleigh and Kilmington before the League season starts on Saturday, 7 May.
Everyone is delighted that Wilkinson Grant remains as the main sponsors. They are keen to help develop young cricketers and their support is important in enabling first-class coaching to be delivered at the Friday night junior training sessions.
These evenings have also become a popular social occasion for many of the parents, friends and siblings who enjoy relaxing, with the bar open and the barbecue lit, at the end the working week.
Sidney Pratt Builders’ sponsorship is targeted at developing the skills of the adult players and this has enabled a specialist coach to be employed for their training sessions.
The club is grateful to EIC, Southernhay Dental Practice and County Grounds Maintenance who are lending support to the fast-growing girls’ section, and Projexe Engineering who sponsor the youngest players
