HOWZAT for a sporting gesture! A bag of cricket kit from Devon is helping disadvantages youngsters in Sri Lanka play the game.

Devon Seniors – a club for veteran cricketers in their 50s, 60s and 70s – recently toured Sri Lanka for two weeks.

During the tour they dropped in on the Prince of Wales School in Moratu to drop off bag of kit.

The kit back was donated by the Lord’s Taverners, a cricket charity particularly keen to help youngsters.

Tourist Stuart Lott, the former Torquay, Paignton, Sandford and Cockington spin-bowler, is a Taverner and handed over the kit on the charity’s behalf.

Other goodies distributed during the tour were pencils, crayons and colouring books given to schools in Negombo.
