Premier Division: Murray wants business heads on
SIDMOUTH skipper Will Murray said getting the attitude right is the key to beating Plymouth tomorrow.

The defending Premier champions were undefeated before running into Exeter last Saturday and losing by six wickets.

Murray said Sidmouth were guilty of thinking the game was theirs for the taking, overlooking the fact that Exeter had other ideas.

“We had the wrong attitude and learned a lesson because of it,” said Murray.

“It is something we cannot afford, especially against Plymouth who scored 300 odd against us in one of our games last year and beat us.

“Plymouth have started well again – I think they are right behind us in fourth – and if we don’t knuckle down we could suffer for it.’

Plymouth were without opening batsman James Toms when they lost at Exmouth last Saturday, but welcome him back tomorrow.

Sidmouth won’t be too pleased to see Plymouth’s big hitter as he caned their bowlers for 139 in the corresponding fixture last year.

Plymouth skipper Matt Hooper remembers last season’s meeting well and after the drubbing at Exmouth is looking for a response from his team.

“We respect Sidmouth as champions but with them losing last week as well it is a great opportunity to close the gap on third position,” said Hooper.

“We put 300 past last them year so we are gunning for the same again.

“We batted brilliantly that day so I am after another good batting performance.

“We have no Devon players at the moment and they have severall; here are a few of our boys that want to play for Devon so they will be looking to stake a claim.”
