BRADNINCH remain perilously close to the Premier Division trap door after going down by 145 runs to leaders Bovey Tracey.
The only plus point to come out of the final round of matches in the first half of the season was that some of the other struggling sides lost as well.
Cornwood (77pts) remain below Bradninch (79) after they lost at Exmouth, while Torquay (93) are no further ahead after North Devon turned them over.
But bottom side Budleigh Salterton (66pts) narrowed the gap between all of the bottom three to 13 points by defeating defending champions Sidmouth.
Bradninch could do with a win against Exmouth at Kensham Park this Saturday just to ease the pressure on them.
Sam Wyatt-Haines opened up with 86 and there were half centuries from Damian Bourke (61) and Matt Golding (55no) as Bovey raced to 313 for seven in 50 overs.
Blundell’s boy Wyatt-Haines out on 87 for the first wicket with Peter Bradley (40), then 109 for the second with Bourke before he was dismissed.
The runs just kept coming with ex-Bradninch player Golding showing his old team-mates what they are missing with 55 off 37 balls.
Paul Nott’s three for 74 was Bradninch’s best wicket-taking return, although Jackson Thompson kept it right in 10 overs that cost just 34 runs. Every other bowler in the team went for six an over.
Bradninch were all out for 168 in reply with 10 overs to go – Ryan Bougourd claiming three for 12 to help speed them on their way.
Losing pro Thompson to the second ball of the innings and the first ball he faced to Neil Hancock did Bradninch no favours at all.
James Street made 50 and Greg Maher 37, which helped Bradninch reach 155 for five in reply with 16 overs to go. Then the wheel fell off.
After Bourke (2-24) picked up Maher and Chris Acton, former Devon seamer Bougourd ran through the tail as Bradnich lost their last four wickets for 13 runs.
Last man Andy Nichols had to leave the ground early and did not bat.
