Lustleigh looking to lift Brockman Cup

LUSTLEIGH will be aiming to make up for the disappointment of losing in last season’s Brockman Cup final when they return to the Recreation Ground on Friday night (6pm) to have another crack.

Barton proved too strong for Lustleigh last season, cruising to a seven-wicket win with three overs to spare.

This time the opposition is Paignton, who have had a relatively straightforward path to the final, beating Abbotskerswell, Torquay and Shaldon to get there.

Lustleigh had to have to attempts at Brixham in the semi-final – game one was rained off – but made it

Their path to the final took them past Babbacombe in round two – they had a bye in the first round – to set up the meeting with Brixham.

Lustleigh hold the record for the most consecutive victories in the final of the cup – six between 1996-2001 – but haven’t won it since.

Paignton last lifted the trophy back in 2010 when George Benton and Mark Ashworth batted them to a three-wicket win over Brixham in a low-scoring affair.
