Querl cleared to bowl again in DCL

NORTH Devon fast bowler Glenn Querl has been cleared to bowl again in league and second team cricket after remedial work on his action by ECB coaches.

Querl, who is in this third year with the Instow-based outfit, as called in by ECB earlier this month after concerns were reported about his bowling action.

The doubts over Querl’s action had been picked up while he was playing for Hampshire 2nd XI earlier in the season.

When Querl’s action was looked at ECB experts decided it was illegal and suspended him from bowling.

Hampshire, where Querl has been hoping to land a First Class contract, said they would work with the Zimbabwean all-rounder to rectify the problem. They have been as good as their word.

The remedial work is still going on. While it is Querl remains suspended from bowling in First Class cricket.

Querl is due to mark his run-out up against Torquay today.

‘We are delighted to have Glen back bowling – not just for our sake but his as well,’ said North Devon captain Matt Dart.

‘It has been a shadow hanging over him for the best part of a month and Glenn will be glad it has been lifted.

‘For us it is another massive boost in the space of a couple of weeks.

‘Two weeks ago Tom Allin (Warwickshire) became available for us again. Having Glenn as well has really pepped up our bowling attack.’
