C Division - Veale skittles Bideford
BIDEFORD skipper James Ford was almost lost for words after his side went down by 13 runs to visiting Ivybridge.

Bideford appeared to have done the hard bit after dismissing the Bridge for 167 – Chris Luxton bagging four for 28 and Josh Atkinson three for 55.

Toby Borrow (46) was Ivybridge’s main run getter.

Bideford were rattling along nicely until Cord was dismissed at 120 for five, but Marc Bettis was still there and scoring freely.

The turning point was losing Bettis for 48 at 138 for seven.

Paul Veale (5-22) took five in a row as Bideford were bowled out for 154.

Bideford are now four off the bottom of the table and could go lower than that if Ashburton beat them this Saturday to trade places.

SECOND-placed Ipplepen had the best of the derby clash at Ashburton, but couldn’t shift the last pair and had to settle for a draw.

Pens, away to Kingsbridge this Saturday, made 251 for five declared in 40 overs with Moriz Hartmann top scoring on 91.

Hartman, who hot nine fours and four sixes, put on 84 with Dave Harris (43) and 71 with Jack Lewis (33).

There were more runs from Sam Wakeham (32) and Matt Quartley (30).

Most of the Ashes’ bowlers took some punishment, although Kris Connabeer did take three for 49.

Ashes gave it a shot with opener Tom Durman making 71 off 65 balls with seven fours and fours sixes to get them up to 98 for two.

Chris Pascoe added 70 from76 balls and at 160 for two with 15 overs to go it was game on.

Then Pascoe got out. Five wickets went for 20 runs as Sewell (3-49), Paul Thomas (2-49) and Steve Bowden (3-49) got stuck in.

Last pair Gordon Colwill and Dom Durman batted out the final four overs to earn a draw at 203 for nine.

Ashes are at home to Chagford this Saturday.
