SEATON have a big day this coming Sunday (August, 4), when they play Dartginton & Totnes at Ivybridge (2.30pm) for the Corinthian Cup.
Seaton booked their place in the final with a thrilling two-run win over Axminster last Tuesday night.
Batting first, Seaton were in all sorts of bother on five runs for four wickets! That quickly became 16-5 before the late order of Alex Hunt, Phil Collins and Ben Libby played key roles to get their side to 91.
Axminster in reply were 50-4 and on course, but some disciplined bowling, initially by Libby and Collins and then, at the end from skipper Ben Morgan and John Waterhouse, saw the reply restricted to 89-7 leaving Seaton two-run winners.
Morgan said: “It was a game of twists and turns from start to finish and we are delighted to have got through to the final which should be a great day out for us. Coming as it does the day after a huge league game at table topping Clyst Hydon, it means this is a massive weekend in our season.”
In earlier rounds Seaton have accounted for Topsham St James and Alphington and now head for Filham Park, Ivybridge on Sunday (2.30pm) looking to lift the cup.
Dartington and Totnes booked their place in this year’s final with a big win over another C Division outfit, Kingsbridge.
Morgan says: “They will be strong, but in this cup run we have already seen off higher placed teams in each round so a little more of the same will do nicely.”
