BRADNINCH dropped two points closer to the Premier Division danger zone as a side-effect of being rained off at Sidmouth.
Tim Piper’s side did pick up three bowling bonus points for taking seven Sidmouth wickets, but fellow strugglers Cornwood got a full house of five at Exeter.
Bradninch are at home to Cornwood this Saturday in a game they cannot afford to lose.
Once Cornwood are out of the way the only side left on the fixture list in the bottom half of the table for Bradninch are Torquay.
Sidmouth made 217 for seven in 41.4 overs before a second downpour forced the players off, never to return.
Liam Lewis made a brisk 46 before he was the third and final scalp for veteran Bradninch seamer Paul Nott (3-59).
Josh Bess (35) and Peter Randerson, who had spells with Heathcoat and Sandford before switching to Sidmouth, made 27 in a hurry before he was trapped lbw by Will Squire.
Luke Bess top scored for Sidmouth with 49 not out and shared a stand of 64 for the fifth wicket with brother Josh.
After Harrison Jones went third ball to Jackson Thompson (2-39), Scott Barlow nudged and nurdled 23 at the end.
Sidmouth skipper Will Murray would have liked the game played to a conclusion as he was confident of winning over the full distance.
“What we didn’t want was to run out of time to finish our innings and go back out for 20 overs while they thrashed it around,” said Murray.
“Bradninch would have needed 100ish off 20 overs and the form Jackson Thompson is in right now that isn’t far fetched.”
