HEATHCOAT eased their relegation worries considerably with a five-wicket win over Bovey Tracey.
Victory has hoisted Heathcoat 40 points clear of the second drop spot and probably one more win from safety.
Bovey had harboured hopes of finishing second this season, but now trail Plymouth by 29 points and can probably forget that.
Lunchtime rain meant a delayed start and a reduction to 32 overs a side.
Bovey, who were put in, made 154 for four with Matt Golding top scoring on 59.
Malcolm Lake opened up with 33 and put on 36 for the second wicket with skipper Andy Fairbairn (39).
Fairbairn stayed around to knock up 83 for the third wicket with Golding,
Golding faced 47 balls, hitting a six and five fours.
Jamie Drew’s eight runs in seven overs was one of the reasons Bovey struggled for runs.
Jason Parr had one for 22 from five while Qassim Adams took two for 35.
Heathcoat suffered an early setback when opener Dan Powell was run-out by Nathan Roberts.
Toby Lochead (37) and skipper Steve Smith (54) made a 49-run hole in the deficit – and after Lochead went Smith and Adams took Heathcoat in sight of victory.
Smith was out with 19 needed, leaving Adams to tie up the loose ends.
