Topsham St James celebrate youth season

Topsham U15s with coaches Richard Haigh, Grant Dee Shapland and Kevin Sterrett

TOPSHAM St James’ colts presentation evening in the Bonfire Field clubhouse was attended by around 100 boys and girls aged 7-15.

Parents, grandparents and siblings enjoyed the evening, during which the bar was open and the BBQ lit.

It was an opportunity for parents and children to show their appreciation of the hard work by the coaches and committee members, particularly outgoing head of colts Malcolm Shepherd (right).

The following main awards were made:

Colt of the Year (Govier Trophy): Charlie Goodfellow.

U15 – best batsman: Aiden Pring; best bowler: Cameron Robison; coaches’ award: Richard Dee Shapland.

U14s – best batsman: Callum Davison; best bowler: Callum Davison; coaches’ award: Dean Pym.

U12s – best batsman: Robert Deasy; best bowler: Jasper Rockey; coaches’ award: Josh Drew.

U11s – best batsman: Benedict Steele-Flood; best bowler: Sebastian Steele-Flood; coaches’ award: Dylan Jenkins; U9s/U10s – best batsman: Billy Turl; best bowler: Rhys Norman; coaches’ award: Gilbert Forster.

Girls – Best with Bat: Maddie Ross; Best with Ball: Molly Dart; coaches’ award: JoJo Baylis.

Every child received a medal to mark their participation in matches and training.

The adult presentation evening will be held on September 26 when there will be a buffet supper in the clubhouse.
