B DIVISION
IT’’S super Saturday in the B Division as top four are playing among themselves.
Leaders Tavistock are at home to second-placed Bideford, who name the same side beaten by Shobrooke Park last time out.
Third-placed Ivybridge got to Thorverton who are fourth.
The Bridge scraped a 10-run win over Barnstaple last time out, which didn’t impress skipper Gareth Andrews.
“We must improve on last week’s performance, which wasn't good enough,” said Andrews.
Batter Andy Johnson is back in for Chris Greenhouse, who has a hamstring injury. Josh Zimmerman is very doubtful with an ankle injury.
Thorverton will be without opener George Greed, who is harvesting.
“All part of the fun of skippering a village side I suppose,” said captain Graham White.
“We bring in former 1st X1 captain Adrian Grey to bolster the batting.
“A week of sunshine should mean a very good cricket pitch at our ground, so that's one variable removed.
“It should be a decent contest and one we're looking forward to.”
Fifth and sixth meet as well when Shobrooke Park host Plymstock.
Plymstock skipper James Nichols still thinks his side can press for promotion, if they keep a settled side and keep winning.
A win this weekend would really give us momentum going into Barnstaple and Stoke in the next two weeks
“Shobrooke are a good side, with match winners - and at it's at their place which is a hard place to go and win.
“We are going to have to improve once more, our fielding is going to need to be better as dropping catches and giving teams extra runs is going to catch up with us if we aren't careful.”
Rory Coltham and mike Blackmore can only play at home so back come Ian Whalley and under 15 Adam O'Brien gets a chance in the middle order.
Braunton entertain newly bolstered Stoke Gabriel, who will have Gerhard Erasmus making his debut.
The Namibian international has been recruited for the final six weeks of the season.
Braunton hope to have skipper Ian Roberts back after surgery, and will hope left-armer Jon Baglow can be patched up to play out the season.
Baglow has been struggling all season with hamstring, quad and ankle problems.
He is seeing a specialist next month.
With Collier and Cresswell away., Higgs and Hodges come in.
Baglow, who has been captaining the side while Roberts is out, said Braunton need to play cricket for longer to climb from third bottom.
“Need to concentrate on extending our good periods,” said Baglow.
“We play good cricket at times, but not for long periods, and need to improve this quickly.”
