D Division East: Honiton take over at top

D DIVISION EAST

HONITON II are the new leaders of the Division after a thrilling single-wicket win in a high-scoring affair at Acland Park, Feniton.

The home side batted first and were led to 237-5 by Toby Devine’s splendid 79 and a knock of 71 from Stuart Bright.

Andy Brinsford picked up four wickets for Honiton, who were then led to victory by Neil Pullman (64), Kieran Sluman (44) and skipper Andrew Lapping (38).

The heroes at the end for Honiton were 14-year-old Harry Wright with an unbeaten 16 and club stalwart Richard Hill (1no).

Danny Lewis took 4-12 for Feniton before injury saw his spell with the ball ended after five overs.

North Devon III inflicted more misery on once runaway leaders Whimple II, whom they beat by nine wickets.

Alex Evens (31) was the only visitor to make an impression with bat as John Wainwright (4-11) and Gareth Carder (3-28) took regular wickets, the final one falling on 96.

Then Richard Clark hit 51 to guide North Devon to a comfortable win.

Exmouth III were 105-8 after 30 overs of their game with Kentisbeare II at Newton Poppleford when the heavens opened and washed out any chance of completing the game.

Donovan Robinson (39), Mark Dawe (14) and Dillon Jessop (13) had the principle scores in the book for the hosts when the rains arrived.

Axminster III gained another fine result, claiming a winning draw from their visit to Countess Wear II. Dan Bicknell (89) and an unbeaten 68 from Sam Dibling led the Axemen to an all out total of 253.

Gary Spragg took 4-70 for Countess Wear and then top scored with 61 in the run chase that saw the Exeter side closed on 226-9.

Adam Whitehouse took 5-50 for the visitors.
