SANDFORD followed up their win over Bideford by defeating Tavistock by 54 runs.
Russ Discombe helped himself to 52, Prince Masvuare had 40, Josh Cann made 34 on his debut and Ash Baker chipped in with 31 as Sandford made 225 all out.
A second-wicket stand of 96 between Discombe and Masvaure got Sandford over the disappointment of losing Ryan Glass for none.
Tavvy shared the wickets around with skipper Shaun Daymond the pick of the bowlers.
Tavvy were all out for 171 in reply – and only got that many thanks to Jamie Stephens (71) and James McGahey (31) rescuing them from 76 for seven. Stephens and McGahey put in 72 for the eighth wicket.
There were three wickets each for Jamie Palmer (3-22) and Brian Leach (3-27).
Sandford are at home to Hatherleigh this Saturday.
Jamie Palmer, the Sandford skipper, said seldom had the old adage ‘catches win matches’ been more relevant.
“Our total was probably par and we did well to reduce them to 60 for six,” said Palmer
“Jamie Stephens batted well and kept them in with a chance
“The main difference between the sides was the fielding.
“Tavvy dropped five or six catches and we caught them all.”
