PLYMSTOCK are up to second in the B Division table following a hefty 94-run win at Braunton.
Jason Williams was the man of the moment for Plymstock with a rapid 108 in a total of 323 for five.
Nick Lowe and George Barnicott then took three wickets each as Braunton were bowled out for 229 – Alex Hodges and Callum Mitchell registering identical scores of 55.
Ipplepen’s win over Shobrooke Park lifted them into top spot as Shobrooke’s expense. Plymstock are now six points behind in second – with Shobrooke to play this Saturday.
That's four wins on the bounce now,” said skipper Scott Mansfield.
“With everyone beating everyone the next few games will be massive and for us.”
Josh Hocken was the only Plymstock batter to miss out as the runs just kept coming.
By the time Williams was out fifth out at 211 he had put on 65 with Dom Wood (24), 70 with skipper Mansfield (30) and 44 with James Nicholls (28).
“He played in his aggressive style t record his first century for the club,” said Mansfield.
Getting Williams out didn’t do Braunton any favours as Mike Blackmore and Ian Whalley continued the assault.
In the last 10 overs they posted 112 runs with Blackmore making 35 and Whalley 74 not out from just 33 balls, which included six fours and five sixes.
“A huge straight six dislodged some roof tiles on a close by house and house owners weren't best pleased,” said skipper Mansfield.
“During Ian’s 33-ball stay he was restricted to not scoring off six of the balls he faced.
“To say he made use of the other 27, wouldn't be an understatement.”
Braunton were no pushover and with Alfie Huxtable (32), Mitchell and Hodges having a go they clocked up maximum bonus batting points.
Their best stand was one of 51 for the fifth wicket – Mitchell and Hodges – but they were well behind the asking rate then and never likely to catch up.
Lowe (3-40) had wickets up top, Barnicott (3-37) had them at the end and Whalley (2-43) chipped away at the middle order.
