White has a dream - and it ends in promotion!

THORVERTON skipper Graham White is daring to dream about promotion after his side routed relegation worriers South Devon by 138 runs.

Seven wins in the last eight games have lifted Thorverton from rock bottom at the halfway stage of the season to third from top.

They have taken 118 points from the last 120 available – impressive form by anyone’s standards.

Paul Fielder, Kobi Griggs and Dave Baldock all made half-centuries as Thorverton totted up 263 for five.

Will Denford (4-39) led the bowling effort as South Devon crumbled to 125 all out.

Thorverton are only eight points behind second-placed Plymstock and White believes is team can go past them

“We have three games to go – Braunton, Chudleigh and Abbotskerswell – and two of them are at home,” said White.

“Win all three and we will definitely go up. Two may even be enough.”

A second-wicket stand of 96 between Fielder (68) and Griggs (55) underpinned the Thorverton innings.

There were plenty more runs to come with James Hope (27) and Denford (25) joining in. Baldock slapped 57 not out against his former club to pile on the pressure.

Spinners James Allen (1-35) and James Hart (0-44) kept Thorverton quiet when they bowled.

South Devon slumped to 93 for five in reply with dangerman Neil Hancock out in single figures to a Denford loosener. Which pitched halfway done and just had the momentum to knock off the bails.

Paul Hooper top scored with 36 and there were chip-ins from Jonty Parsons (21) and Sean Day (20).

Gill Grouch and Andy Pitt provided the support for Denford with two wickets each as South Devon were pushed back into the relegation places.
