Ball invited to England U15 development camp

BIDEFORD CC’s Rose Ball has been selected for the England Women’s development programme Under-15 Summer Competition in Shrewsbury later this month.

Rose, 14, a right-arm pace bowler and useful middle-order batter, has been playing cricket since the age of 7 and has represented Devon at Under-13 and 15 levels.

She is also doing her activator course in coaching.

Ball (pictured, left) regularly plays for Tarka Ladies and Bideford men’s teams and is an important part of any side.

“I am really excited to have been selected for England, it’s a dream come true,” said Ball.

“I know I still have a lot of hard work in front of me but I intend to give it my all.

“It’s a privilege to join the England squad and I take nothing for granted.”

Proud dad Mike said: “Rose has been on the verge of national selection before when she was chosen as a reserve for last season’s competition.

“She has worked really hard over the last year and it is fantastic that this has been rewarded with this call up.

“I would like to thank all the coaches at her club, district and county level that have worked with her to achieve this.

“We are all thrilled of course and can’t wait for the competition to begin.”

Rose has also been asked to join a Devon Girls’ U19 team to take part in an International Under-21 tournament in Cape Town, South Africa next March and is fund raising to pay for the trip.
