Parr blasts second double hundred of the season

TIVERTON’S Jason Parr (above) blazed his second double hundred of the season in his side’s win over Chardstock.

Parr joined the D Division East outfit from Premier neighbours Heathcoat this season to play with brother Brendon.

He had been a 1st XI regular at Knightshayes and Heathcoat were sorry to see him leave.

Whimple had already suffered under the Parr lash this season as he took 201 off them in arguably the game of the season in the division.

Tiverton made 328 for six and Whimple replied with 317 for six.

Parr was it once more against Culmstock last Saturday, smashing the bowling for 222 not out.

There were 24 fours and 14 sixes in Parr’s innings, which set a new record for the division.

Former Exmouth and Devon batsman John Tierney held the old record with 208 not out scored for Ottery against Cullompton in 2006.

Next best for Tiverton in a total if 314 for four was Brendon Parr’s 31 not out.

Former Dorset medium pacer Richard Pyman – a team-mate of Mike Atherton’s when he played First Class cricket for Cambridge University – was the leading Chardstock bowler with two for 21.

Chardstock were 166 for seven when their overs ran out.
