DEVON and Exeter all-rounder Ben Green has spent the week taking part in the annual under-17 Super 4s England Development Programme
Green, a member of the Somerset Academy, was among 94 of most talented young players from across the country who have been taking part in the tournament at the National Cricket Performance Centre (NCPC) in Loughborough.
Players take part in a round-robin, 50-over competition, with players selected to represent four geographical regions: London and East, Midlands, North and South West.
The matches, that finished yesterday, gave layers the opportunity to show off their skills in front of watching EDP coaches and selectors, as they aim to make their first step on to the England cricket pathway.
Steve Snell, the director of the Somerset Academy said: ‘The Super 4s competition is an outstanding vehicle for talented young players to demonstrate their potential while gaining valuable experience against the best players in their age group.
David Graveney, chairman of selectors for the England Development Programme, said: ‘The EDP Under-17s Super 4s competition is always a great occasion and the wealth of young talent coming through never ceases to amaze and excite in equal measure.
‘It’s a fantastic opportunity for the players to step out of their ‘county bubble’ and challenge themselves in a different environment and a pressurised situation.’
