Treleaven doubles up at Topsham SJ awards evening

ROSS Treleaven’s contribution to Topsham St James’ season in the D Division West was recognised at the club’s end-of-season awards evening.

More than 50 players and family members assembled at the Globe in Topsham to look back on the season.

Treleaven 37 wickets at 10.54 runs each included a hat-trick against local rivals Countess Wear and earned him the bowler of the year award and the Brewer Cup as player of the season.

No bowler in the division sent down more overs than Treleaven (pictured, left).

Batsman of the season and winner of the Harold Lewis Cup was Nick Horne, who made 388 runs at 55.43 in just nine trips to the crease.

Skipper Treleaven must wish Horne was available for the whole season with figures like that. Horne’s stats included a century scored against Buckland.

The 2nd XI didn’t have a great season as they finished bottom of the D Division East with just one win.

However, there were highlights. which included player of the season and the batting award going to Alex Davison.

1st XI player of the season (Brewer Cup): Ross Treleaven; top batsman (Harold Lewis Cup): Nick Horne; innings of the season: Matt Williams; top bowler (Evans Cup): Ross Treleaven; best bowling performance: Dan Armstrong.

2nd XI player of the Season: Alex Davison; batting award: Alex Davison; bowling award: Sam Warren.

South Devon League, Sunday XI: player of the season (James Harding Memorial Cup): Dan Armstrong.

Ladies: best with bat: Hannah Clark; best with Ball: Clare Pym; players’ player: Hannah Clark; century: Claire Thomas 113no v North Devon; President’s Cup: Brian Jeary; Clubman Cup: Ted Davenport.

Topsham have also handed out their youth awards, which were presented in the clubhouse.

More than 100 youngsters aged 6-15 attended – boys and girls - and all were presented with medals for representing the club.

Award winners were:

Colt of the Year (Govier Cup) – Dean Pym.

Under-15s: best batsman: Sam Bowker; best bowler: Dean Pym; coach’s award: Matthew Dixon. Under-13: best batsman: Luca Pym; best bowler: Jasper Rockey; coach’s Award: Jack Suss.

Under-12s: best batsman: Alex Collins’ best bowler: Tom Day; coach’s award: Rahul Antony.

Under-11s: best batsman: Charlie Dack; best bowler: Rhys Norman; coach’s award: Zack Chandler-Thorn.

Under-10s: coach’s awards: Max Broomby, Oliver Clayton, Ben Mason.

Girls: best with bat: Emma Corney; best with ball: Ellen Day’ coach’s award: Katherine Harget.
