KILMINGTON were able to celebrate a league and cup double at their annual awards evening.
The 1st XI under skipper Ralph Cook were crowned champions of the Tolchards Devon League D Division East.
Tom Gooding led the T20 team who lifted the Richard Whiteway Cup by defeating Whimple in the final.
The celebrations were held in the village hall and catered for by Duncan Colvin and his staff from the nearby Old Inn.
Cook, spoke about the route taken by his team to reach the top of the D East Division.
Gooding (pictured) had the best bowling figures with an average of 13.87 and Sean Perry the best batting stats, averaging 44.13.
Tattershall, captain of the 2nd XI, was unable to attend so vice-captain Martin Huscroft, stood in to speak of the season.
He said 33 players turned out for the 2nd XI during the season and that promotion was narrowly missed as Kilmington were only two points short of the required total.
Veteran David Lavender, recorded the best bowling figures and took the bowling trophy with an average of 10.1.
Newcomer Glenn Harding, took the batting award with an average of 61.5.
The Kilmington CC young player of the year award was won by Sam Olive.
Chairman Maurice Beviss was awarded clubman of the year.
Harding was the players’ player of the year, an award voted for on the evening.
Two players had scored more than a thousand runs during the season in all games. Harding was beaten by winner Matt Rockett, who totalled 1,154 runs.
With a good number of youngsters already playing for the club, and others going along to the club training evenings, the future is looking bright for Kilmington CC.
