Brockman Cup first round matches

BROCKMAN Cup holders Dartington & Totnes beat Shaldon by 63 runs to work their passage into the second round,

Mike Jarvis set the tone with 52 at the top of the order and opening partner Matt Haw chipped in with 22.

Adam Huxtable (20) and Scott Colgate (22) kept the score ticking over – and after a middle-order wobble there was a quick 14 not out from Harold Stevenson at the end.

Will Moore took three for 28 and there were two wickets each for Kevin Haycock (2-24) and Freddie Bond (2-48).

Shaldon were all out for 101 in reply with more than two overs to go.

Openers Joe Hanna and Ryan Doyle went cheaply, but Moore hung in there to make 33.

Bond had 32 not out in Shaldon’s all out total of 101.

Steve Mudge (2-19), James Howrihane (2-23) and Mick Rusling (2-24) were D&T’s leading bowlers.

SOUTH Devon comfortably cleared the first hurdle in this season’s Brockman Cup when they beat Kingskerswell & Chelston by 65 runs.

South Devon set off at a cracking rate with openers Ian Shepherd and Ryan Maunder slashing their way to 112 for one.

Shepherd (28) was the junior partner in the stand, trailing well behind Maunder, who had 68.

Richard Beaumont chipped in with 28 as the overs ticked down.

Steve Waters with three for eight at the end had the most presentable of K&C’s bowling figures.

South Devon pinned Chelston down from the word go thanks to tight bowlng from Joe Kitto and Cameron Fogden.

Kerswell & Chelston didn’t get much change out of Harrison Moss or Jamie Allen (3-11) either.

Skipper Ross Bidgood made 18 and Waters 22 in a total of 85 for six.

STOKEINTEIGNHEAD went through in the first round courtesy of a 23-run win over Halberton.

Chris Presst (24) and Mark Russell (38) were the leading run getters for Stoke In a torla of 137 for six.  Chris Parish (18) chipped in.

Mike McClement (35) and Jack Skuse (42) got Halberton off to a fine start, but the middle order stalled as Ian Fraser (4-14) got to work.

Only Ian Hutchcroft made it into double figures after the openers went as Halberton slowed to 114 for eight.
