Batting needs to tighten up says Palmer
SANDFORD have to put their 21-run win over Bradninch in the past when they face early leaders Cornwood this Saturday.

Skipper Jamie Palmer was pleased to squeeze a win over Bradninch having suffered a 94-run pounding by Lewdown the previous Saturday.

Palmer said beating Bradninch was a step in the right direction and nothing more.

“We set the game up well at about 100 for three after 30 overs and I felt we should have posted 200 minimum which would have probably been par,” he said.

“Once again we gifted far too many wickets to the opposition and we were disappointed to only make 153.

“Cornwood away is always a tough fixture. I am looking for an improvement in the application of the batsmen and us batting 50 overs is very important.”

Marc Bettiss (injured) Charles Fitzroy (revision) Richard tucker (work) are unavailable.

Young left-arm spinner Tom Williams – Devon’s leading wicket taker at U-14 level in 2014 - comes in for debut.

“He's played very well for the 2nds so far and he's in the West of England trials,” said Palmer.

“I have no issues with him slotting in just fine for A Division cricket.”
