THORVERTON entertain Ipplepen this Saturday still looking for their first league win of the season.
Plymstock defeated Thorverton by 43 runs last time out to leave the Station Road side one off the bottom of the table. Only Axminster are below them.
Skipper Graham White feels he knows what’s going wrong and is confident of getting it right.
“We're not playing very smart cricket at the moment,” said White.
“We are not bowling in the right areas, or batting sensibly.
“But it will change.”
Dom Wood hit 52 in a Plymstock tally of 211 all out. Wood and Matt McKay (21) got Plymstock off to a 70-run start.
Wood and Jack Horton (45) added a further 55 and there was a chip in of 24 from Jason Williams.
Will Denford (3-30) led the bowling effort for Thorverton, aided an abetted by Andy Pitt (2-32) and Jack Stirling (2-24).
Dave Orchard then took five for 30 as Thorverton subsided from 107 for four to 168 all out.
Thors were wobbling at 25 for three under pressure from Nick Lowe, but a stand of 82 between Dave Baldock (35) and Cody Griggs (65) took them to 107 for four.
Then Orchard started working through the order, with help from George Barnicott (2-41).
