McGillivray puts skids under Bradninch

BRADNINCH will be looking to pick themselves up and get going again when Barton pay a visit after suffering a 179-run drubbing at the hands of Brixham.
Brixham raced 298 for three in their 50 overs – with four of the top five making half-centuries.
Top of the chart with 94 off 64 balls was Gauteng all-rounder Matt McGillivray.
The South African has been starring with the ball before running into Bradninch, when his batting credentials were on display.
Brixham suspected something might happen as McGillivray had scored a T20 ton against Torquay in the week before the game.
Bradninch were 19 for four then 37 for six in reply with McGillivray adding four more wickets to his tally, which is now 18 in four games.
Lawrence Greenway and Will Gregg led a lower-order fightback by Bradninch, but the damage was done and they slipped to 119 all out.
Dan Hardy, the Bradninch captain, had no complaints.
“On the day Brixham were the better side by a distance,” said Hardy.
“McGillivray is a top-notch player and made a real difference.
Brixham were 75-1 at drinks then he hits 90-odd to take the game away, before doing his usual with the ball.”
Opener Josh Hunt was the only Brixham batter to miss out as he went for 16 to Ross Acton, whose 10 overs for 17 runs were more than respectable under the circumstances.
Andy Pugh (59) and Stuart Edgar (59) put on 77 for the second wicket and when Pugh went out came McGillivray.
McGillivray and Edgar hoisted 58 in nine overs before Edgar went for 59.
McGillivray cracked on with Mark Orcharad in an unbroken stand of 128 for the fourth wicket.
Orchard reached 51 not out from 39 balls while McGillivray’s 94 came off 63 deliveries with six fours and five sixes.
Greenway suffered more than anyone else under McGillivray’s onslaught. His 10 overs cost 101 runs.
Chris Metters was the only one of the Bradninch top six to reach double figures as McGillivray and Craig Eaves (2-31) tore out the early order.
Greenway (40) and Will Greig (27) put on 51 to make the scoreline a little more respectable.
Once Greenway went the last three wickets fell for 13 runs.
Defeat drops Bradninch into the bottom two with just one win from three completed games.
Hardy isn’t about to panic just yet as he retains confidence in his side.
“I don't think as a unit we are far off, but just missing a few per cent that has cost us in the last couple or games,” said Hardy.
“We need to improve the basics, bowl to plans, build partnerships and take catches.”
