SOUTH Devon warmed up for a crack at bottom side Thorverton this Saturday with a run-rate win over Abbotskerswell.
Neil Hancock thundered along to 133 not out as South Devon totalled 286 for three.
Ali Wright (46) and Dave Knowles put in 42 for the first wicket then Hancock and Sean Day (84) piled on 166 for the third.
Day got out but Hancock ploughed on to the end.
Abbots set off in hot pursuit with Dylan Nel blazing an unbeaten 120 and Charlie Mitchell 48.
A rain break meant a revised target of 245 to win, but the weather gods weren’t smiling on Abbots.
Although Abbots were ahead of South Devon on an over-by-over basis by 17 runs, when the rain came they were 18 runs behind the run rate.
Abbots, who have now lost two in a row, will hope to avoid a third straight defeat when they entertain hit-and-miss Braunton on Saturday.
