SANDFORD skipper Jamie Palmer had no complaints after the five-wicket defeat by Brixham.
Adrian Small hit a half-century and Richard Tucker wasn’t far behind as Sandford made 223 all out.
Promotion-chasing Brixham won at a canter with Mark Orchard (72no) and Matt McGillivray (62) leading the way.
Brixham are now top of the table having gone past Cornwood, who lost to Hatherleigh.
Sandford are four off the bottom going into their game with Barton this Saturday, with nine points between them and the relegation zone.
Palmer wasn’t too concerned about losing to Brixham, but does worry about the injury and availability problems affecting the side week in and week out.
“Brixham are a quality side and in McGillivray have a match-winner,” said Palmer.
“We knew he could bowl looking at his 18 wickets in the first five games.
“Against us he showed he could bat as well.
“We have had a lot of injuries and considering that we didn’t do badly.
“A better side beat us and if Brixham aren’t promoted this season I will be very surprised.
“Another 50 runs would have helped us – as would having another seamer in the side.
“We should get stronger in the second half of the season and ought to win more games.”
Small (54) and Tucker (41) were the leading scorers for Sandford, aided and abetted by Prince Masvaure (22) and Ashley Baker (22).
Craig Eaves with four for 54 was the pick of the Brixham bowlers.
Brixham started hesitantly – they were 26 for three – but got going through McGillivray and Tim Robinson, who put on 46.
Orchard and McGillivray were responsible for the next 76 runs, then Mike Meech (40no) joined Orchard to add 80 unbroken.
