Exmouth aim to carry on climbing table

EXMOUTH head for winless Plympton looking to maintain the form that has taken them to wins over Paignton and Heathcoat and up to sixth in the table.

Former Devon captain Bob Dawson is back in for Dickie Arnold, who recently rejoined the club

Skipper Richard Baggs hopes Exmouth are over their sluggish start to the season and feels the win over Paignton last time out is supporting evidence.

“We are looking to continue winning and getting on a bit of a roll,” said Baggs.

“There are one or two signs of things picking up and I am hoping for dry weather as that suits us massively.

“We won't underestimate Plympton as it's a tough place to go and they have some good players.”

One of those players to watch out for is batter Josh Mailling, who has been called up into the Devon side for the game against Wales starting on Sunday.

Mailing missed the defeat at North Devon last week, but comes back into a reshuffled Plympton side.

Ollie Mulberry has a wedding and Fraser Smith has been left out into the twos to get some runs and confidence. Chris Bunney and Dave Wrench come in for them.

Jamie Lee is rested now Mailling is available.

“It is going to be another tough match after last week when we were thoroughly out played,” said Plympton skipper James Carr.

“Positives were Owen Gannon, on only his second 1st XI match, scoring a very good 40, and Dom Mulberry fighting to get us some sort of total.

“Both are 16-17-year-old lads so only good for us.”

Everyone knows what Exmouth have and we just plan to play cricket and enjoy ourselves.

“I am not to worried where we are as I am confident when everything clicks we can win matches.

“We've just lost bunches of wickets and you can’t do that in the Prem.

“The first thing is to get our batting sorted.”
