Huxtable praises professional batters but says bowling still needs work

NORTH Devon captain Barney Huxtable said there remains of room for improvement despite a comfortable seven-wicket win at Exeter.

Exeter were all out for 154 – Tom Allin (2-28) and Josh King (4-28)  doing the damage – which was more than they looked like getting at 93 for nine.

Huxtable’s 54 and 40 from Quintin Dreyer made light work of the chase.

Huxtable was pleased with the batting side, but less so with the bowling and fielding performance.

“For the first ten overs we bowled tighter lines than we have done this season, although there is still room for improvement as they were again 50-1 off ten overs,” said Huxtable

“Zak Bess got Exeter off to a good start and then threw it away after making 27.

“Tom Allin came on first change and put the brakes on.

“Josh king bowled his best spell of bowling so far this summer. He got the ball swinging and put it in the right areas.

“We batted very well and finished the game off in a very professional manner, only losing three wickets giving us a full 20 points.

“Dreyer again batted with great intent smashing 40 of not very many. Max Curtis (pictured) played a great role in seeing us through.”
