SIDMOUTH are giving Dan Powell a 1st XI restart against Heathcoat on Saturday – the team he joined last season and left last month.Keeper-batter Powell went in search of regular 1st XI cricket, but returned to Sidmouth having failed to make the batting breakthrough he was hoping for.
Sidmouth need a keeper against Heathcoat as Peter Randerson is nursing a sore thumb.
Powell gets the nod over Matt Hewer, who has deputised previously this season and done all that was asked of him and some.
"It was a very difficult decision as Matt Hewer has done a fantastic job for us and was particularly instrumental in our win against a strong Exmouth side,” said Sidmouth skipper Will Murray.
“However, picking the strongest keeper in the club and looking to the future, we decided to include Dan for Saturday's game.”
Sidmouth, fresh from beating leaders Torquay, will be tagged favourites to win against a team that has lost three in a row.
Murray is confident but not cocky going into the fixture.
“I would like to think we can carry on from where we were last week in the win over Torquay, but Heathcoat have won at North Devon this season and any team that can do that deserves respect,” said Murray.
