Prideaux slams career best for Filleigh

FILLEIGH skipper Simon Prideaux went ballistic against Kentisbeare by cracking a career-best total of 162 not out.

Prideaux went in to bat in the 17th over and put on 86 with Ryan Bowden, who dominated the stand with 78.

There was  77 more with Vic Lothain, whose contribution was 11.

Prideaux went on to smash 14 fours and the same number of sixes as Filleigh amassed 346 for nine.

“It is my highest-ever score, but it’s not the biggest ground,” said Prideaux.

Mark Mbfona then had three wickets for 56 runs as Kents were bowled out for 208 and lost by 138 runs.

OTTERY St Mary skipper Lewis Townsend expects it is going to get hard to hold on to talented all-rounder Billy Rudolph (pictured) much longer after yet another devastating display.

Rudolph belted an unbeaten 102 for Ottery in their seven-wicket win over Alphington which extended their lead at the top of the table to 37 points.

Rudolph has scored 502 league runs in six games this season and is well ahead of the field in the C Division.

That would be impressive for anyone, but Rudolph is only 16 years old!

“It won’t be long before there is a queue round the corner from the Premier Division clubs all keen to sign him,” said Townsend.

“Right now Billy is happy where he is. We send him out there, and he bats and bats!

“He is only 16 and is only going to get better.”

Alphington made 226 for eight against Ottery, mostly through Anthony Shepherd and Ian McDonald.

Shepherd made a 74 and McDonald a top score of 82 in a stand of 115.

Will Harrison (3-44) and Jody Clements (2-46) took the bowling honours for Ottery.

With Rudolph running the show the Ottery run chase was routine.

Billy Reed (34) - another Ottery prospect – put on 80 with Rudolph and there were two stands of 90 involving Townsend (24) and Rob Crabb (33).

The only Alphington bowler to have much success was Tom Bath with two for 36.

Ottery will be aiming to continue their winning run against Feniton this Saturday in the derby clash at Salston Field.

Second-placed Alphington are at home to Seaton, who slipped up by 63-run at Barnstaple last time out.

BARNSTAPLE & Pilton remain fifth in the C East table following a 63-run win over Seaton.

Brady Saunders hit a top score of 58 not out in a B&P total of 182 for seven.

Saunders and skipper Steve Moore (54) put on 88 for the firth B&P wicket. Sean Cole made 27.

The wickets were shared around with two each for Phil Collins, Colin Aplin and Mark Wheeler.

Seaton reached 66 for one then collapsed in a heap to 119 all out. Joel Seward (31) and Kevin Moran (24) scored the early runs before Moore (5-32), Saunders (2-23) and Robin Lake (2-20) did the damage.

FENITON will slip into the bottom two if they lose to Ottery and Filleigh win at Uplympe.

Last time out it all went wrong against Shaldon for Feniton, who lost by two wickets.

Alex Frankpitt hit 64 and Graham Tucker 22 for Feniton, who recovered from 65 for seven to make 180 all out.

Shaldon got to 101 for three in reply – Karl Blackburn (45), George Thomas (25) and Ballman (36) all chipping in.

It was a different story at 147 for eight after a going over from Adam Ramcharran (3-43) and Matt Davies (3-34).

Andrew Espley (23no) and Will Moore stayed calm to knock off the final few runs.

NEW signing Richard Arnold signed in with runs and wickets as Clyst Hydon defeated Uplyme by five wickets.

All-rounder Arnold started the season with Budleigh Salterton, had a brief flirtation with former club Exmouth then pitched up at Clyst Hydon.

Uplyme recovered from 74 for six to make 169 for eight in 45 overs – Alfie Bellworthy (35) and Tyler Wellman (32) leading the way with a stand of 49 for the seventh wicket.

Arnold had two for 16, Clint Lewis took two for 39 and ex-Devon opening bowler John Rhodes bagged two for 22 on a rare outing.

The Clyst pursuit was steady all the way with Graham Trude batting most of the way through for his 65.

After Heflin Wood went cheaply, Trude put on 41 with Ian Sutton (24), 49 with Lewis and 30 with Arnold.

Arnold finished unbeaten on 30, hitting Richard O’Halloran for six to win the match.

Clyst have a derby clash with struggling Kentisbeare this Saturday.
