Nel and Hill give Abbots winning platform

IVYBRIDGE skipper Gareth Andrews is likely to order extra fielding practice this week after an 81-run defeat at Abbotskerswell.

Abbot made 240 for six – which was more than Andrews felt they were worth.

“Dropped catches again,” said Andrews.

To make matters worse for the Bridge, they got into a promising position, then fell apart once Jeewan da Silva was dismissed.

“It was very disappointing to lose after being 108 for two with 28 overs left to chase 241,” was all Andrews would say.

Charlie Hill with 61 was the anchorman for Abbots, sharing stands of 53 with Dylan Nel (50) and 73 with Charlie Mitchell (35).

Earlier, Mawgan Penrice and Connor Stanley got Abbots off to a 39-run start.

Chris Greenhouse (29) and de Silva (41) had Ivybridge up to 102 with a stand of 82.

They slumped to 111 for six and Kelvin Trent’s 30 couldn’t change a thing.

There were three wickets each for Hugo Whitlock and Tom Andrew as Ivybridge subsided to 159 all out.
