Long standing records beaten

Some long standing Under 17 and 16 records have recently been broken. In 1996 David Lye scored 732 runs and this record has, until this year, never really been threatened. However his new club mate Dan Pyle, who, currently,is this year's leading nationwide under 17 run scorer topped it by scoring 773 in all matches at an average of 77.30. Sam Wyatt-Haynes retains the best seasons average of 83.33. .

At Taunton Vale the Under 16s oldest record was beaten when Joe Hagan-Burt and Billy Rudolph passed Gosling and Muggleton's partnership of one hundred and ninety-three compiled in 1990 against Dorset.  Hagan-Burt and Rudolph were parted having put on 218 against Somerset. They in the process beat Ryan Rickard's and the watching Sam Wyatt-Haynes previous best fifth wicket stand of 143 completed four years ago. Their partnership took one hundred and fifty nine minutes, they faced three hundred and thirty-one balls and set their side up for a first innings win. Rudolph was out for 103 and Hagan-Burt departed on 119. The sides score of three hundred and ninety-seven was the highest ever under 16 chase and the second highest total after the 428 scored against Gloucestershire in 2011.

The Under Seventeens exceeded expectations by finishing joint second in the cup competition and third in the championship.
