Allin and Kelly destroy Bovey Tracey

BOVEY Tracey’s season is in danger of fizzling out after they crashed to a 134-run defeat against visiting North Devon.
North Devon made 187 all out with seven balls to go – opener Tom Ansell making 63 not out off 127 balls.
Conditions favored bowlers at Ashburton Road – and Bovey knew that before going out to bat.
No one expected Bovey to be all out for a measly 53 in 18.2 overs – Tom Alling and Ricky Kelly bowling unchanged for five wickets each.
Andy Fairbarin, Bovey Tracey’s club captain, offered no excuses.
“We were terrible,” said Fairbairn. “We batted dreadfully and there is no point dwelling on it.”
Ansell and Callum French (15) featured in an opening stand of 36 for North Devon, broken by Sam Hickebottom, who dispatched Max Curtis three balls later.
Quintin Dreyer (48) and Ansell put on 84 for the third wicket, taking the score to 120 for three.
Toby Codd, one of eight bowlers tried by Bovey, spun out Dreyer and added Allin ten runs later.
Only Jas Kalsi (19) made a double-figure score as North Devon’s last six wickets went for 25 runs.
Pick of the bowlers for Bovey on a rare first-team outing was Sam Thomas with four for 25.
Kelly made the initial breakthrough for North Devon when he trapped Peter Bradley lbw in the fifth over.
Allin snared Lewis Hammett and Matt Golding in the space of four balls, then accounted for Ashley Causey in a running total of 24 for four.
Kelly had surviving opener Malcolm Lake caught behind for 21 and from 28 for five it was downhill all the way.
Codd resisted until the end for 14 not out, but Kelly took most of the wickets to go as Bovey lost their last five for just 17.
