Bradninch have signed an overseas player who has claimed the wicket of England’s Ian Bell.
Cameron Suidgeest took the wicket of Ian Bell when he played for the ACT Invitational XI against England in a 50-over match last January.
The 23-year-old plays First Grade cricket for Ginniderra CC in the ACT Premier League –and has taken 19 wickets for 558 runs this season.
Suidgeest has also been playing for Australian Capital Territory Under-23s, for whom he has taken 16 wickets for 490 runs in seven outings with a best match return of 7-89 in the meeting with South Australia Under-23 at Canberra.
The arrival of Suidgeest coupled with the return to the club from Exmouth of Gary Chappell, suggests the mid-Devon side are in for a good season.
Bradninch skipper Tim Piper said: “We set out to get a high-quality opening bowler and we've got one.
“I really hope Cameron has an enjoyable season with us.”
Paul Nott, the club’s vice-chairman, said: “We are delighted Cameron will be joining us for the season and like ‘Chaps’ (Gary Chappell) will add great strength and balance to our strong bowling attack.
“Cameron has been playing some serious cricket back at home and we look forward to him joining us soon.”
