DEVON Over 60s 2nd XI easily beat Worcestershire at Old Elizabethans CC by 130 runs in the Spitfire National Championship semi-final.Devon batted first and scored 282 with Budleigh’s Rob Newing top scoring of 156 not out. Peter Shepherd (Bovey) made 58 and Gerry Keen (Yelverton) 54.
Worcestershire always struggled against the accurate bowling of the Devon bowlers scoring just 12 off the first eight overs.
Worcestershire eventually finished with 152 off their 45 overs.
The bowling honours were shared between Cockington’s Brian Burrows, Topsham SJ’s Paul Berman, captain Stuart Munday, Shepherd and Mike Dowell (Clyst Hydon).
Devon now have to play Kent today (September 20) at Royal Ascot CC in the final.
