B Division news - Chudleigh sign new bowler

CHUDLEIGH skipper Ed Foreman has cracked the whip ahead of the away game at Ivybridge.
Although Chudleigh’s game against South Devon last Saturday didn’t go the distance, Foreman felt the team could have played better.
“We performed well in parts but very poorly in others,” said Foreman.
“We bowled well up front and did well at the end to restrict South Devon (212) to a getable total.
“Our fielding was poor and that needs to change. If we held our catches we would have been good enough to bowl them out of 150.
“This week we need a full-innings performance against a strong Ivybridge side.”
New signing Hugh Stronge will play, if his transfer gets through, and will strengthen the attack.
Stronge is a right-arm seamer currently playing for Kenn.
Spinner Jack Vittles also comes in looking to stake a claim.
Ivybridge show two changes from the side that didn’t play last week.
Thirteen year-old batsmen-leg spinner Abraham Kopparambil makes his 1st XI debut and opening bowler Jimmy Bullock is available.
“The changes are hard on Chris Greenhouse and David Eadie who have done very well in pre season especially Greenhouse with two not-out 50s but I feel this is my strongest side,” said skipper Gareth Andrews.
“I believe Chudleigh will be one of the sides challenging come the end of the season so will be a tough game and a good test for us.”

SOUTH Devon will be without seamer Richard Beaumont against visiting Axminster.
Beaumont has to work, but South Devon have a tidy replacement in Neil Maud.
Maud, who has a stint with Alphington before joining South Devon last season, hasn’t been able to play much cricket over the last year.
“This year he has been through pre-season with us and is keen to play as much cricket as he can – league and mid-week T20,” said South Devon skipper Jon Martin.

THORVERTON didn’t even get in their cars for the away game at Axminster as Cloakham was ruled out of bounds early.
The Thors are at home to Abbotskerswell this Saturday and skipper Graham White expects to name the same side that would have played Axminster.
Shobrooke Park managed no play against Ivybridge.
It’s Ipplepen away this Saturday for Shobrooke. It will be the first time the sides have met since 1999 when they were last in the same division.
Shobrooke skipper Chris Simpson is wary but confident going into the game.
“Ipplepen got off to winning start last Saturday at Braunton and will be on a high, but our boys are up for this game,” said Simpson.
Ipplepen will be without batters Tom Dyer and Sam Wakeham, who both had runs in the win at Braunton last time out.
Steve Short comes in for Dyer with Steve Bowden included as an extra bowler.

ELSEWHERE, Plymstock are at home to Braunton.
