Webb in for Thorverton debut

THORVERTON had a debut to former Devon fast bowler Matt Webb when they travel to Stoke Gabriel.
Webb hasn’t played for anyone for the past three years, preferring to channel his spare time into motor sport.
Previously, Webb played for Budleigh Salterton, Sidmouth, North Devon and Braunton. He also had a stint with Kent.
Missing from the side that played Barnstaple & Pilton last time are Ali Fury and overseas player Luke Boyadijan.
The pressure is starting to mount on Stoke Gabriel pick up a win as they haven’t had one yet and are propping up the table.
Skipper Josh Dowling remains positive and is looking to the senior players to get a grip, at least those who are available to play.
“Again we have been forced to make a few changes to the side which seems to be one of our biggest problems,” said Dowling.
“On a positive note, we batted our overs out against Ivybridge last week but unfortunately the damage had already been done with a fine innings from boom-boom (Kelvin Trent).
“We have had a good chat with all the senior players about where the team is at and the great thing is that we are all certainly up for the fight of B Division cricket.
“If we stick together I am absolutely sure things will turn.
“Reports coming out of the league are that Thorverton are a top side, so we look forward to challenging them for the points on our home track.”
Lewdown may have to make some late changes for the top-of-the table clash with Chudleigh.

“We have got a few injuries though so there could be some last-minute replacements,” said Geering.
Chudleigh skipper Jon Martin s playing it cagey before the big match, saying: “We’ve got a few selection issues so no confirmed team yet, which isn’t good ahead of a big game.”
Tavistock – away to Alphington – welcome back batter Ian Gray to the side that hammered Lewdown last time out.
“That's the only change so it is a full-strength side,” said skipper Shaun Daymond.
“Hope to carry on where we left off against Lewdown. We played good cricket and showed we have a strong side.
“Winning becomes a habit so I hope it carries on.”
Alphington should have skipper and off-spinner Stuart Shaw back from his holiday retreat in Portugal for the match.
Ivybridge captain Gareth Andrews runs into former side South Devon when the two sides meet at Filham.
The Bridges are looking strong with batters Andy Johnson and Charlie Horwood recalled, along with all-rounder Jake Zimmerman. Out go Chris Greenhouse, Tim Lancaster and Pete Abraham.
The Bridge are in good shape for the game against a side rooted to the foot of the table.
“I was very pleased with the win at Stoke Gabriel, especially with three of our top six missing,” said Andrews.
“Happy to have selection problems to deal with, the boys stepping up are all doing great job.
“Very excited about playing South Devon, an old club of mine!”
Shobrooke Park captain Justin Dollow is expecting a tough game at Barnstaple if previous history is anything to go by.
“Our trip to Barnstaple will no doubt result in a good game of cricket as they have some very good players and a wealth of experience,” said Dollow.
“If our last outings there, a few years ago, are anything to go by, they will be extremely competitive.
“We hope to continue improving our game and I am confident that if we can do this then we can get a positive result.”
Dan Pyle is back on school duty but Cliff Dare is available to bat and bowl if needed.
