Cricket Without Boundaries

Devon Old Boy, Simon Hards, now a Cricket Development Manager with Surrey at the Kia Oval is also very much involved with the Cricket Without Boundaries scheme and he has asked that coaches in Devon should be alerted to the programme. Simon writes

Our website is www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com and we take teams of volunteer coaches out to five African countries twice a year. The volunteers raise funding for the charity which helps to cover the costs of each project. The charity work very closely with the ICC, UNAIDS, the National Associations (e.g. Uganda Cricket Association) and other key partners and is becoming a renowned organisation very quickly (we were on the BBC 5 Live on Christmas Day and have also been on BBC Breakfast due to the fact Holly Colvin came out on a trip recently).

The trips are certainly once in a life time experiences and they also provide great perspective on coaching in general (once you can deal with 200 excited Ugandan kids coping with 20 non interested English kids becomes a bit easier!). It would be great if the DCB could promote the work of the charity as I think it could provide coaches (and other cricket lovers – you don’t have to be a coach to go out) with the opportunity of experiencing something amazing.
