Details of this summer's National Cricket Playing Survey are now available.

Thanks to over 37,500 people nationally and just under 750 here in Devon, cricket has received players' (current and former) views on what they think of the game.

The information gives the national picture with some of the headline data:-

37,586 total responses – up 77% on 2013
26,206 player responses – 83% on 2013
8,735 lapsed player responses – up 60% on 2013
Responses from ‘hard-to-reach’ segments of the market have significantly increased e.g. Occasional players, women and girls and South Asian players
Conceded games have increased 62% from 2010-2014
27% of players are dissatisfied with end times of matches

The ‘Devon Overview’ provides a local flavour of the headline data with some key points being :-

Overall satisfaction is higher at 7.9 than the national average of 7.8 - Devon players enjoy playing cricket!
Satisfaction levels across 5 ‘game day factors’ (format, length of day, no. of overs, start and end times) are all equal to or below the national averages
Positives trends with formats and pitch quality, but negatives with travel distances, start and end times.
Devon Women want to play more cricket!
Sunday cricketers want to play fewer overs, travel less and finish earlier.
Devon players are generally saying they love cricket but it takes too much time out of their day.

The insight has been shared with cricket boards and leagues up and down the country by the ECB to assist the cricket networks to support and influence more people to play the game more often in teams.

Locally, Devon Cricket are sharing details with its members, local leagues, clubs, players, umpires and coaches to help grow the game.
