League Management calls Extraordinary General Meeting

An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Devon Cricket League has been called for Thursday 27 November. The League’s Management team has called the meeting to allow the latest set of proposals on Regionalisation of the DCL to be discussed and voted on.

The proposals, a copy of which has been sent to all member clubs, is the result of a Working Group tasked with developing options for change in the structure of the League. The Group was formed of club representatives elected at the Divisional meetings held in the autumn.

Geographically Devon is a large county and not well served in all directions with its road network. Finding a ‘Geographic Meridian’ along which the county could be divided and providing cricket that would be attractive to players was paramount to the Group.

The Group also made use of the ECB commissioned, National Cricket Playing Survey, which achieved over 700 responses in Devon. The survey demonstrated that although there was dissatisfaction with late Saturday finish times, sometimes compounded by long distances to travel, having competitive cricket is important to all players participating in League matches.

The meeting on 27 November will be held in the Conference Room of the Exeter Court Hotel, commencing at 7.00pm. All clubs are asked to send a delegate to the meeting.
