Island Cricket Exeter T20 League latest

LATEST TABLESSHOBROOKE Park moved up to second place in Division One of the Island Cricket Exeter T20 League with a derby victory at Thorverton.

The Thors posted 138-6 from their 20 overs, opener George Greed scoring 39 and Paul Fielder 45. But Shobrooke chased them down with more than three overs to spare thanks to a team effort with the bat.

Pete Turner (29) and Andrew Steer (22) opened up before Chris Ford’s 21 and Dan Pyle’s 39no saw them across the line four wickets down.

In Division Two, Alphington remain top thanks to a 19-run win at home to Exwick.

The Alphas were bowled out for 134 three balls short of their allotted overs thanks to Derek Jenkins’ 6-28.

Openers Dinesh Raheja and Anthony Shepherd made 45 and 27 respectively.

Exwick started the chase steadily thanks to Greg Newcombe (25) and Kris Calderhead (23), but ran out of overs after tight spells from James Knight (2-18) and Raheja (2-17).

Countess Wear now lead the chasing pack after a comprehensive win at home to Cullompton.

Pete Darke carried his bat for exactly 100 not out in Wear’s imposing 205-2, John Heaver supporting him with a knock of 38.

In reply, Cully were never up with the clock despite Darren Paul’s 46 and closed on 128-6.

Met Office were also in the runs, posting 193-5 at Newton St  Cyres. P Rodgers made 78 and Rami Yedidi continued his good run of form with 54, the pick of St Cyres’ bowling coming from Martin Pearce (3-51).

The home side then collapsed to 71 all out in reply, Yash Pradham taking three wickets for just two runs for the Weathermen.
