CLYST Hydon were victorious at home to Shobrooke Park in a close, high scoring encounter in Division One of the Island Cricket Exeter T20 league..
Clyst posted 161 for four from their 20 overs, Tim Piper and Rumesh Batagodage both making 48.
James Bevan (2-37) was the pick of the Shobrooke bowling.
The visitors were always ahead of the rate, despite losing wickets regularly.
Shobrooke looked favourites after a bright and breezy 29 from number nine Chris Simpson left 15 needed from the final eight balls.
Last man James Bevan smashed Clyst’s Dhanuja Haturusingha back over his head for six.
Bevan then shouldered arms to the Sri Lankan’s final ball and had his stumps rearranged, leaving the home side eight-run winners!
Exeter moved to the top of the table with a comfortable seven-wicket victory at home to Thorverton.
Thors’ 131-8 was built around runs at the top of the order from George Greed (21), Kobi Griggs (27) and Paul Fielder (32) against wickets for Exeter’s James Fuller (3-30).
Zak Bess’ 67 saw the city side home with four overs to spare, with good support from Aaron Lawrence and Sam Conway, despite Jake Choules’ economical 2-20 with the ball.
